It doesn’t mean the end of digital radio, it just means that the BBC plans to 
retain its FM presence. That’s a good thing, as long as they ditch all the AM 
stuff. Pretty much pointless now because just about everything which we have on 
AM is available on FM and/or digital. Plus, of course, the Internet and music 
streaming services are becoming ever more popular in mobile entertainment 
systems. There’s much much more to life than radio! Radio is a great medium, 
don’t get me wrong. But it certainly isn’t the b all and end all, as it once 
was.
