Called 2 different Sony part dist. yesterday and they both said they would have to do research on this '99 mod. Sony (KV-32S66). All I needed was a varistor. MAT Electronics (yuk, to some of you) shows one on page 490 of their latest catalog No. 100 for $1.10. Now, I had to call both of the Sony Dist's. back today with the same results on both. Neither one had followed through with the part no. look-up, and I stayed on one with my cell phone for 30 minutes on the way to Houston (had an app't with the VA, or I never would have done this, since they were toll-free). This guy comes back and says the part will cost me over $8.00 plus shipping (a week shipping). I went ahead and ordered it just to say it has original Sony parts.
Q. Does anyone know if a generic varistor will work to simply clamp the voltage in case of a lightning strike, or does anyone know of a decent Sony Distributor I can use? Thanks very much
Joe
