This post is due to recent discussion about replacing rather than repairing
boards. I'd like to mention that if boards such as the Sony "G" are easily
repairable then we are better off to just go ahead and repair the board. In
a couple years down the road one of us will really need the whole board such
as in the case of lightning damage but the whole board will be NLA. Sony
will have sold out their stock. I've seen this happen before and it goes for
all of the manufacturers with common failure boards.
I do agree if we get stuck on a tough "dog" that board replacement may be
the most profitable way out. But I'm going to at least try first. Usually
they only need a handful of inexpensive parts that cost a fraction of what a
new board costs.
