Sony monitor HMD-A400 Mfd. 09/2001... excessive screening then shutdown... (fix) allot of soldering on CRT board Flyback & pwr sply areas. Unit has played constant 24 hours for 3 days in a row. Finally just got put back together.
BS of this job was dis- & re-assembling of unit. All labor and no problem charging for it... "joe" ================================== Hi All, Cust brought above unit in for shutting down. When I fired unit it comes on with excessive screening and retrace then shuts down after a minute or less. Flyback has 3 controls. (Focus) which works fine. (G2) which also adjusts the focus And a permanently sealed (Screening) control which is unadjustable. Cust also claimed that once in awhile if she hit the unit hard enough and just right it may come back on momentarily then out again. I want to obviously check pc connects, but Sony has this unit built like a tank. The hardest part is going to be disassembling of the unit even the CRT board to expose anything. So I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this unit before i attempt to disassemble. Even if i'm lucky enough to find bad pc connects it's going to be a couple hours work and if I don't see any obvious bad pc connects I was wondering if anyone could give me a lead on what all to check once i've gone that far. Sure hope someone can help......
