Walter, If I understand your question, the fused rating would be more than enough. A larger amp rating is always used, of course.Don't forget, there is usually a brief surge when power is applied so the 5 amp may blow. If it doesn't it would probably be stressed during use. If there is a damaging surge, it would generally be a lot higher than the rated amount....sorry, best I can explain this.
