I have got serious druthers about that "Hiss" ! The Hiss is a sharp point or contamination of the surface at Anode socket that the HV is getting out. My 'cure' was to very thoroughly clean the surfaces around the Anode connectors and replace the anode cup and then plenty of clear silicone to seal all and be DRATTED sure the Anode lead IS CLIPPED into the Anode socket of the CRT. I haven't found any shortcuts other than above and would dearly love to find such. Also be sure the Dag is grounded good and all grounds in place. Rebuilt CRT's could have a fault for that. That Hiss can cause what you describe below. Best: Eugene
