I just did one yesterday to replace the leaking blue and red CRT in a customer's home yesterday and I as alone. I too, like Wayne, take the enitire top cabinet/mirror section off and slide the CRT light rack forward. These sets are indeed awkward to work on and there is quite a bit to disassemble. You will be removing a multitude of screws so pay attention so you can put them all back in their correct locations.

To take the top off, first take the back off, then, around the tubes, you will see some more screws, fairly obvious. The top will slide slightly forward, then up and out of the way. It it much better to have two people, for safety and easy, especially on the first one. I have never been able to reassemle one by myself. It is awkward, not difficult.
