Bob,
Don't know if these will help you or not, they appear to be some
previous posts & replies of yours (maybe not).

Anyway i've been up for past 2 nights trying to catch up on my bs and
can barely see, but if you can decipher through all the writing they may
be of some help. Hope so.

Sony KV32XBR95S Now the set powers up but without any picture at all.
Sony KV32XBR95S TV had a good picture, until it stopped powering up. I
found a shorted diode in the audio section and replaced that. Now
the set powers up but without any picture at all. Sound is fine.
The picture tube and the associated drivers look fine, but there is no
video signal. Tracing back, I see the video jungle chip isn't putting
out anything but it looks like it does not have the proper inputs.
Tracing further, it looks like there is something amiss on the "P4"
board - which is the COMB filter. Service manual shows a part number
1195-065 for the board, and the board has both 1195-054 and 1195-045
stamped on it. The schematic for the board does not match the circuit
on my version of the board, so I cannot really troubleshoot at the
component level. The two ICs on the board are discontinued Sony
parts. I would like to replace the board but Sony says they do not
carry a replacement anymore.

If you replaced D1410 in the audio circuit, also replace Ic140 the audio
amp and your set will power up once again. Strange but true! In
the future when looking for help always give the part numbers that you
have already changed, it makes it easier to look up the repair.

Sony KV32XBR95S Dead
Looks like the set is fixed. I ended up replacing the following
components:
D604 (D1N20R, Sony part# 8-719-510-48) D610 (same as D604) F602 (3.15
amp Sony part# 1-576-107-22) Q603 (2SC4664NPR, Sony part# 8-729-927-23)
Q604 (same as Q603)
Q605 (2SD2012, Sony part# 8-729-209-15)
Q652 (2SC2785-HFE, Sony part# 8-729-119-79) R623 (8.2 ohm, 1/2 watt,
Sony part# 1-212-956-00) VDR602 (Sony part# 1-809-264-71)

I have a Sony KV32XBR95S that is dead. I have found the components
listed below defective (so far) but I can't seem to find any obvious
shorts or loads. The horizontal output transistors in fine. I do not
have the parts I found bad in stock and I just ordered them. Before
replacing them and firing the set up, I was wondering if anyone else had
encountered this scenario and if there is something else I should be
aware of? Here the list of parts I have found bad so far:

F602
Q603
Q604
R623
VDR602

Just as a matter of routine on these, I will also be replacing C661 and
C662.

Update! Besides the audio amp IC (IC1401) being blown again and
replacing it along with D1409, D1410, D1411, and C1407, I have found the
following defective components in the power supply and replaced them:

Q603
Q604
VDR602
R623

After replacing these and every electrolytic on the "G" (power supply)
board, when plugging in the set the relay starts to chatter repeatedly
and Q603 and Q604 get very hot immediately and shortly thereafter short
again (even with connector G5 disconnected for audio amp B+). this time
however, R623 remains normal. I can't seem to locate why and I am
spending far too much time on this set and the customer is very anxious
to get it back. I had previously replaced C662 and C668 but as I
indicated, all electrolytics have been replaced (again for some of
them). Anyone have some suggestions?

Subject: [Techs] Sony KV32XBR96S (repeated audio amp IC failure)
=================================
I have a customer (who is an electronics engineer) with a Sony
KV32XBR96S who brought in his set (as he lives outside my in-home
service area) back in January for a dead set condition. I had found the
front audio amp IC (IC1401) blown with a hole in it. There were also
other damaged components as well that were replaced with Sony originals.
Here is a list of those parts:

IC1401
IC1501
D1409
D1410
D1411
C661
C662
C668
VDR602
R623

Everything was fine until the beginning of June when the customer once
again brought it in for a dead set condition again. This time I found
and replaced the following components with Sony originals:
IC1401
D1409
D1410
D1411

I completed the repair on Friday, 06/18/2004 and let the set run
continuously around the clock until he picked it up on Thursday,
06/24/2004. I had informed the customer that IC1401 once again had a
hole blown in it and had him check the external speaker wire connections
to make sure that none had excessive length of exposed bare copper at
either end when he returned home. The set ran great Thursday, Friday,
and part of Saturday but then the customer states he lost audio for
about 15 minutes, then lost the picture, smelled burning, and the set
returned to it's same old dead set condition. I just got off the phone
with him and explained that it sounds like that IC1401 may have blown
again but I am at a loss to explain the reason for a repeated failure
and that I would pose this question to my fellow technicians on the
various email forums to which I am a member. So now let me request your
collective ideas!
