(Willing to Relocate -- Fine) Pay Rate is Market/DOE/Competitive DUTIES My client is seeking to hire a Software Engineer with extensive Java programming experience. We are looking for a creative, innovative Software Engineer with broad experience, and a passion for creating world-class solutions to support our product test groups. This person will be a designer and implementer who is an expert in Java. The position is part of a small team developing & enhancing test tools for various product test groups responsible for the verification and validation of features associated with our storage array products. Our internally developed test framework permits test designers to automate tests that are independent of a test tool. Tests are defined by using a vocabulary of keywords (action words) that symbolizes a specific task that is to be performed on the application under test. Candidates must have skills to design, implement, debug, and maintain action words using the Java programming language: * Develops new action words and maintains framework to meet functional and architectural requirements * Participates in determining functional requirements and deliverables * Estimates development and test time * Resolves action word defect and enhancement requests * Verifies the operation of action words within the Test Automation framework * Works with test case script developers and Product Test engineers to affect timely resolutions. * Documents solution requirements, design, test, and technical procedures. In addition, the successful candidate will join a software engineering group responsible for the new development, enhancement, support, and maintenance of a suite of integrated applications critical to operation of our internal and OEM product test groups. * Heavy interaction with fellow developers * Works closely with end users to isolate and characterize application defects * Comfortable in a deadline-driven environment * Assumes additional responsibilities and other activities from time to time as directed. SKILLS Experience in Java programming is required Expert in object-oriented programming techniques Expert in object-oriented analysis and design using UML, Solid technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Cross-platform development experience is an asset Excellent verbal and written communication skills Well developed interpersonal skills, ability to get along with diverse personalities Must have the ability to work as part of a small team Must have the ability to work unsupervised Scripting experience (such as with Python or Perl) is an asset Basic computer and hardware debugging skills is an asset Knowledge of storage array technologies is an asset Knowledge of product test environments is an asset Knowledge of testing frameworks is an asset. Knowledge of IO management approaches on various operating systems is an asset.
