Need J2EE Reports Developer
Location: NY
Duration: 12 Months
Rate: $40/hr Max
SCOPE OF SERVICES
Specific Reporting functionality for this initiative includes:
* The capability for lobbyists to generate PDF, Excel, and Word
versions of filed reports.
* Creation of a reporting and analysis capability for each City
Clerk investigator and the Lobbyist staff as a whole. This includes 15
- 20 reports for tracking delinquent filers, providing information to
the press, and providing an annual public report. This will
tremendously reduce manual work currently required for both Clerk and
DoITT staff.
The primary role of the contractor will be:
* Develop system reporting capability within the Jasper framework.
* Participate in development of systems design; this includes
specifying the component packaged and custom applications, class
diagrams, sequence diagrams, activity diagrams, etc.
* Communicating risks and issues to technical lead and project
management
* Coding and designing application
* Using best practices for development
* Perform unit testing and fixes during testing phase
* Document all coding and testing efforts
Deliverables:
* Required reports
* Contribute to all documentation regarding system design
* Participate in the design of the application
* Build and unit test modules for the system
* Assist in testing efforts, perform unit testing and fixes during
testing phase
* Provide input into the development of use cases and misuse cases
for handoff to QA team
* Document the system design using UML (create class, sequence,
activity, state diagrams) and produce written system documentation
* Assist technical lead with low level application design and code
complex features
* Communicate risks and issues to project management and technical
lead
* Use best practices for development
* Participate in code reviews of the system being developed
* Analyze and improve system performance when required
MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE Note: candidates who do not have the
mandatory skills will not be considered.
* A minimum of 4 years of experience in Java development for
large-scale enterprise systems;
* Experience in portal application development (preferably
Vignette).
* Experience in development and implementation of large-scale
enterprise internet/intranet J2EE systems utilizing JSR 168 portlets.
* Working experience with JAVA Frameworks (Hibernate, Spring,
Struts, etc.)
* Experience working with the following technologies:
* Commercial Application Portal (preferably Vignette)
* Oracle
* SQL
* BEA WebLogic
* UNIX
* JSP/Servlets
* Hibernate
* XML/XSL
* Knowledge and experience with Jasper Reports API;
* Excellent oral and written communication skills are required;
* Solid knowledge of testing tools and techniques.
DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Experience working on government technology projects with the City of
New York is preferable. Experience with search technologies and search
implementation is beneficial as well.
* Experience with data integration systems is a plus.
* A Bachelors or Masters degree in MIS, Computer Science, or
equivalent experience is desired;
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
References should be provided from at least two former or current
clients where the contractor has performed the same or similar work.
Provide the name, address, phone number and e-mail address of the
reference as well as a brief description of the work performed.
Candidates should expect to be tested (e.g. given a programming task as
part of the interview).
