Subject: RE: Initiate information To reiterate our morning conversation, my group (Customer Identity IT) is looking for assistance with our Customer Identity (CI) Satellite Infrastructure Project. I have provided some more information for you to work with below. Project Background: Master Data Management (MDM) Enterprise View MDM, which is the Initiate product, will create output that is an enterprise view for all FedEx customers. This view will be the output of Initiate Matching Tool and CI defined business rules. The final output will be the enterprise view which includes a hierarchical representation of the customer where all FedEx Accounts are aligned appropriately. Customer Identity (CI) is the business owner of the pure Enterprise view of the customer. Need for Satellite Views While the pure enterprise hierarchy of the customer provides an integrated view of the customer across OpCos, regions and countries, there can be situations and instances where the pure customer hierarchy may not serve the specific business needs and requirements of different work streams such as Pricing and Sales, to name a few. A good example of where the enterprise view might be inadequate for customer facing, pricing, claims etc is Berkshire Hathway. Berkshire Hathway is the ultimate parent and legal owner of its subsidiaries like NetJets, Dairy Queen, Fruit of the Loom etc. However for all practical purposes these subsidiaries might require separate pricing and customer facing. Satellites are going to be the vehicles where different work streams other than CI can create and maintain their customized views of the customer hierarchies. Development of business rules, implementation and creation of satellite views will be the responsibility of the specific functional area / work stream. Satellites will be constructed by changing the values within the MDM structures by work streams other than CI. In addition to the pure enterprise view, CI will create the infrastructure for receiving and storing the alternate satellite views created by the work streams. CI IT is responsible for understanding the objectives of the Satellite work streams (ex. Sales, Pricing, etc.) and developing an infrastructure to house the satellite data via a design that will be accessed by all Satellite work streams (ex. Sales tools will read from / and write to the CI Infrastructure Satellite database). _____________________________ We are looking for consultants that could perform the roles of: Initiate Trainer o Training topics are listed below. Developer (possibly) The primary training areas are: • Initiate Java SDK - Memput , Search , Relput etc • Database layout • Entities/Members • Relationships • Clover • Workbench with an emphasis on members, entities, and relationships, and deployment – less important is the algorithm editing • General system administration o Start/stop the engine o Software installation o Instance creation and setup o Log files o Hub configuration deployment o How to find the root cause of engine issues Most important items to focus on when choosing candidates are: specifically look for experience with the ‘Initiate Organization Hub’ (there is more than 1 type of hub) in-depth knowledge about each of the training topics listed above how long it has been since the individual has actually used Initiate If the individual worked for initiate (preferable) or a company that had purchased and deployed Initiate software (as FedEx did) how good their communication skills are, particularly communicating with developers ability to train in a ‘hands on’ environment. Also, we are using version 8.7 of Initiate as of our August, 2009 load.
