I did reboot. Hence the wondering whether the fix was really changing freqs or rebooting.

Changing anything to do with RF, and many other parts, requires a reboot on the eNBs. If you didn't reboot, request reset reset, after switching
to split2x2, you were prabably not actually operating in split2x2 mode.
