I would assume at some point the 7000 is going to go away. I haven't heard of a time line. I suspect the product has a bit of life in it because of the continued existence of the WiMax install base.

So the 7000 is an option and one I'm looking at though I also suspect that further development is going to be on the 8000 and not so much on the 7000 as it was designed out of the gate as a transitional product.

I am contacting a distro for the Baicells guys, they are going to get back to me and I called the BEC group (thanks Henry C.)

From my conversation with the BEC guys. They are oriented towards a custom design / support solution. He even mentioned making custom firmware changes 10 times in 3 months to accommodate a customer. They are going to get back to me on cost and availability. I will let you all know what I find out.

They aren't discontinuing the 7000 are they? Couldn't you just continue to buy those?

I haven't played with a Baicells CPE, but could that be an option?

The only other third-party vendor I have run into with FCC approval is Greenpacket. But they apparently have no U.S. distributor. So you have to buy directly from Greenpacket in wholesale quantities. They don't have high-gain options and I don't know that they have any connectorized models either. And it may be moot anyway because never having played with one, I do not know their stance on SNMP.

My eye's are wide open to the fact that we will likely have to maintain the breezeview "tax". But breezeview is not integrated with our billing and network management system or processes and likely never will be. It's this weird and clunky little thing that I only touch when adding new SIM's to the network.

Again, SNMP is a requirement for operations in our network. So we are going to move forward with a solution that is compatible with our network. If that is Telrad or another solution. Telrad had this functionality, and was one of many reasons we implemented their solution. Honestly it is hard for me to call any device that does not have basic functionality like SNMP a "carrier grade" solution.

So has anyone ran into a CPE device that does support SNMP?

We don't use breezeview for anything as it is noting but a glorified Ihss
import utility at this point. SNMP is a requirement for us. We are looking
for alternative CPE options that support SNMP. Has anyone found one other then
the 7000 series?

That is the same thing we have been told, maybe if enough of us request
SNMP they will reconsider this.

We have spent months trying to get StarACS to get decent KPI's from the
CPE7000's. Now we are being told that the ACS function is moving to BreezeView,
but KPI's are several months away.

So, now we are changing the CPE7000 to both TR069 and SNMP. Using the
ACS to do bulk software upgrades, parameter changes, etc. And using SNMP to get
the KPI's we want. This has been much more reliable and we are finally getting
the info we need.

Therefore, TELRAD please add SNMP to the CPE8000, and give us the
option of TR069 and/or SNMP just like the CPE7000.

There is no roadmap to add SNMP support to the 8000 that I have heard,

        just TR-069
