Nope, I'm not sure.
I was assuming based on the red highlights when you switch the "UE
Category" option from Cat 4 to Cat 5 on the eNodB Capacity Estimator
V2.1.

Hmm, you sure about that? I'll have to dig up the specs for the 2
CPEs, but the vast vast vast majority of UL subframes hitting our eNBs
are coming in modulated at MCS index 20, and the vast vast vast
majority of CPEs on our network are 7000s.

Even without 64QAM, a category 5 UE should get to MCS 20. The 7000
being a category 4 would only get up to MCS 16 on the UL.
It'd be nice to *see* the UL MCS, but in theory it should already go a
little higher on the 8000.

8000 does higher UL MCS, but we are advised to not enable it at this
point...

That’s interesting, Telrad has always told us that the 8000 is a
higher powered CPE than the 7000.

Both are +23dbm tx power in LTE.
(7000 went to +27 with Wimax firmware, but that's neither here nor
there).
8000 does higher UL MCS though.
I remember a long time ago (like > 2 years) hearing about CPE with
bigger integrated panels. I might have even seen a picture of a
prototype. Maybe it's all in my head.

I was under the assumption that the 8000 had a higher gain antenna,
but I was wrong. According to specs both the 7000 and 8000 have a
15db antenna.
Telrad has said since the announcement of the 8000 that it is their
high power CPE. I guess that they were referring to TX power, not
gain.

Joking perhaps? It doesn't have more antenna gain. Or do you mean
a different kind of gain?

The 8000 is their higher gain CPE (other than the connectorized

19dbi eh? Does anyone happen to know if a higher gain CPE is on
Telrad's roadmap? I thought it was at one point.

Baicells CPE does work with telrad with a telrad sim card. We have
only tested one but it works pretty well.

They suggested the UE would run around the $400 mark in relatively
small quantities. The 7000 is a cheaper solution at that point
for SNMP support. Though there could be other advantages to have
them put something together.

it may be moot anyway because never having played with one, I do

So we are going to move forward with a solution that is
compatible with our network. If that is Telrad or another
solution. Telrad had this functionality, and was one of many
reasons we implemented their solution. Honestly it is hard for
me to call any device that does not have basic functionality
like SNMP a "carrier grade" solution.

We don't use breezeview for anything as it is noting but a
glorified Ihss import utility at this point. SNMP is a
requirement for us. We
are looking for alternative CPE options that support SNMP. Has
anyone found one
other then the 7000
series?

That is the same thing we have been told, maybe if enough of

We have spent months trying to get StarACS to get decent
KPI's from the CPE7000's. Now we are being told that the ACS
function is moving
to BreezeView, but KPI's are several months
away.
So, now we are changing the CPE7000 to both TR069 and SNMP.
Using the ACS to do bulk software upgrades, parameter changes,
etc. And using
SNMP to get the KPI's we want. This has been much more
reliable and we are
finally getting the info we
need.
Therefore, TELRAD please add SNMP to the CPE8000, and give us
the option of TR069 and/or SNMP just like the
CPE7000.

just
TR-069
