Having been where you are (almost) I thank my lucky stars I bit the bullet and
put in redundant EPC setup.

We have had at least a half dozen 'fatal' epc failures, most only require a
cold-boot, but three have required remote intervention.

Without a spare epc (and I have cold spare on the shelf) we would have been
UTCWAP.
