ParaTheatrical ReSearch seeks female physical performer
We are staging a paratheatre performance of Rilke's "REQUIEM FOR A FRIEND". This live performance will also be filmed and incorporated into "The Greater Circulation", a feature dv-film by underground filmmaker Antero Alli. The film's story follows a small experimental theatre group preparing to stage Rainer Maria Rilke's lyrical lament, "Requiem For a Friend" and flashbacks to 1908 when Rilke was writing this work.
SCHEDULE Paratheatre training (Monday nights, March 21 thru May 9), rehearsals (once a week TBA, April to mid May), the performances (mid-to-late May) plus six to eight extra shooting days (TBA in May/June). Deferred payment plus dvd copy of film, onscreen credit, paratheatre training, and meals on shoots. This will be Antero's sixth feature fiction film (see filmography) and the next in an ongoing chain of paratheatre performances (since 1977). This is a non-union production.
Role description:
"ANIMA"; female physical performer, age 25 to 40 Anima is one of three women portraying an archetype of triple goddess muse (Anima, Mother, Artist) to poet Rainer Maria Rilke. who is she ? the word "dancer" is not enough. innocence and danger. Anima must be able to perform an arresting open-eyed stillness married to a choreography of convulsion. The drama of her dance is that razonr's edge between the longing to bear Children and the passion to accomplish Art. strong physical performance skills a must (butoh & abstract dance a plus). she is confined to an area about ten feet by fifteen feet and is visible for the entire performance of approx. 45 minutes.
