The Fire Arts Festival call for Artists and Performers

CALL FOR FIRE AND LIGHT ARTISTS, PERFORMERS, INSTRUCTORS AND VOLUNTEERS

The Crucible presents the 2005 Fire Arts Festival
Tuesday through Sunday, July 12-17, 2005

The Fire Arts Festivals is an art exposition celebrating and showcasing innovative works of art that incorporate fire and or light, with workshops, lectures, installations, and performances.

We invite you to submit an application to our 2005 Fire Arts Festival.

The Fire Arts Festival will take place July 12-17 at The Crucible's 48,000 square foot industrial arts facility and nearby 200,000 square foot outdoor arena in West Oakland. There will be a full program of arts and educational events throughout the five days and evenings, including lectures, classes, artist talks, and arts demonstrations. The highlight will be the many fire performances and fire and light sculptures featured in the outdoor exhibition arena on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

This year's Fire Arts Festival will be presented with sponsorship from Pasha and Laney Thornton, City of Oakland, the Tagami Family, Jack London Square, Oakland Magazine, Clear Channel,
Kamps Propane, Bay City Pyrotector, San Francisco Bay Gaurdian, Cresco Rentals and the City of Oakland's Fire and Police Departments. Together we'd like to invite you, as a practicing artist to participate.

The mission of the Fire Arts Festival

The summer of 2005 marks the fifth annual Fire Arts Festival, galvanizing education and growth of the fire arts community both on the West Coast and nationally.

The Fire Arts Festival is a one of a kind showcase of innovative works of fire and light art, performances and classes. We offer the community a dedicated space and resources that gives them a unique learning and collaborative opportunity. Through providing a meeting place for artists, performers, teachers, students and City officials to share information, the Fire Arts Festival engenders and promotes fire safety and education like no other organization.
