You were right; there were no java files in java because I moved them around a bit... now java/Makefile.in is made; but still, I ultimately get this:
Making install in java make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/share/tesseract-2.03/java' make[1]: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop. make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/share/tesseract-2.03/java' make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1 I forgot what the "No rule to make target" means, however. Any clues?? Probably some missing libraries?? I'm looking... I did ./configure # as root make # as root, then sudo make install > I think that's not the problem, because I was able to configure > tesseract on amd64. Have you checked to see if that file actually > exists ?
