Not sure whose personal e-mail that was intended for, but if you're asking my I honestly have no idea. I needed to use OCR on a block of text yesterday, and I ended up having to use Office 2003, but I didn't have time to play with Tesseract. Everything I've read seems to indicate that Tesseract is the best open source OCR out there, but I really don't know that much about it.
