For me, Tesseract does a good job. The recognition rate is
comparatively very high. Alas, whichever resolution, whichever font
size, from 100x100 dpi at 10.5, up to 400X400 dpi at 16, Times New
Roman, any lowercase 'e' makes it to a lowercase 'c'. When I look at
the tiff, no doubt, it is an 'e', except for Tesseract.
Mine is 2.03 on Debian Testing.
(There seems to be no way of attaching a file, otherwise I could have
added one of the very obvious 'e' that are rendered to a 'c'.)
