Ah, I missed this the first time around. This is interesting
functionality. I agree with Zdenko, it would be really good if the
comments from around line 150 in trie.h could be in the manpage too.

That's very interesting. I got a segfault on the same line
yesterday, though not using user_patterns. It did however start
happening after I created a super-cool massive unicharambigs file
(in the order of 35000 rules.) Could they be related? If not, I'll
open a separate bug.
