The discussion of vectorization vs parallelization is interesting, but doesn't have anything to do with the question that was asked. Perhaps a new thread is in order?
Niral - An order of magnitude difference in performance is unlikely to be attributable to 32-bit vs 64-bit. You left out all kinds of information that would be needed to help you such as compiler versions and switches for both builds, clock frequency of the 32-bit processor, etc, etc. It could be something as simple as a debug build vs a non-debug build, but there's no way to tell. Having said that, I'm not sure you're going to find a lot of people who are keen to optimize for a dated processor running an 8-year old operating system when a few hundred dollars will buy you a modern machine.
