That's true for 2-bar repetitions, but what you suggested was exactly what I
needed :-) It should only enumerate the number of repetitions like in:

==========================
1 1 4 4 4 4 0 0
1 1 20 0

t
./
\\def\dvforrp{\global\let\psct\pausc\
\\gdef\pausc{\duevolte\global\let\pausc\psct}}\
\\def\dvforrpn#1{\global\let\psct\pausc\
\\gdef\pausc{\duevolte\raise9\internote\
\\lrlap{\meterfont#1}\global\let\pausc\psct}}\
c84 d e f g a b c |
MR1 \dvforrp\ rp M
c84 d e f g a b c |
MP1 /
c84 d e f g a b c |
\dvforrpn2\ rp | \dvforrpn3\ rp /
=======================

Think e.g. of Bolero (Ravel). Some instruments do have to play the same bar over
and over again. Often this is noted by such constructions. The player then only
has to look at the bar count....
