I don't have time to try this right now but perhaps this is a good moment to
mention a problem I've had with ties in MusiXTeX: a tie from a dotted note
on a staff line (i, k, m, etc.) overlaps the dot. I normally typeset such a
tie a semi-tone higher as a workaround, but transposition by an odd number of
semi-tones then puts the tie too high. I've complained to Daniel Taupin about
this but he doesn't seem to care and I don't know enough TeX to work out a fix
myself.
