Redefining \parskip is one of the ingredients in the equal-line-spacing
capability (activated by "Ae"). If you comment that out of pmx.tex then Ae
will not work.  I believe the real culprit here is a bug that was only
removed in version 2.35. Joerg, could you process your file with 2.35 and
report back if the problem persists?
