Contrarily to what I said in my previous posting I've now been able to
reproduce this problem with Internet Explorer version 5.50 on a win98
pc. When I double click on the hyper link to our upload directory I get
a message similar to that reported by Luigi. Even if the target of the
link is defined as "ftp:[EMAIL PROTECTED]"; IE 5.50 upon
double click adds a trailing slash to the resulting URL in the location
line. Strangely enough this slash seems to cause the error. If I remove
the slash from the URL in the location line I *do* get a pop-up window
prompting for the password!

Rather than just repeating my prejudices against Microsoft :-) I ask the
IE experts among you for an explanation of the strange behaviour found
in *some* versions of IE and not the least I ask for a method to
circumvent it!

Bye
