Dear All,
Sorry about the previous two messages. I'm afraid they
were the result of looking at a single example in the manual
and then jumping to conclusions. It is obvious, on second reading,
that the length of stem of a beam is controlled by the second argument
to the beam initiation macro and that does not, as I had assumed in haste,
have to be the same as the first note in the beam. Whoops !
