I just did a little more experimenting, substituting \textNavyBlue for \textBlue. The result was disheartening: the beams appeared in an odd shade of blue that I would not call navy, the heads were in cyan, and the stems appear to be dotted oddblue and cyan!
I suppose that MusiXTeX is somehow destroying the integrity of the CMYK tuples. I can't help thinking that that Bach fugue needs a darker blue and purple. Bright colors don't read well. -- Col. G. L.
