Hello Cataldi again,

Today I found remaining old teTeX tree with pdfTeX 3.14159-
1.00a-pretest-20010806 (Web2C 7.3.3) in my another machine.
So I retrieved the tree and carried out some tests.

Result: The suspect is the version of supp-pdf.tex.

I can reproduce the %%EOF error with supp-pdf.tex signed at the header as
"version=2000.10.14".
On the other hand, replacing supp-pdf.tex into "version=2001.07.27"
extinguishes the error.
This occurs in both cases with pdfTeX 1.00a-pretest-20010806 (Web2C 7.3.3)
and with pdfTeX 1.10a-betax-20021125 (Web2C 7.3.11).
So pdfTeX version might have no relation with this error.

The reason of the error is still unclear.

Anyway, I suggest you to get the latest supp-pdf.tex and supp-mis.tex
from tug site http://www.tug.org/applications/pdftex/ and place them
into the working score exists.
This will possibly enable you to use musixpss on your current
pdfTeX 1.00c-pretest-20020426 (MiKTeX 2.2).
(of course I can't guarantee this.)
and please ignore the test code I posted yesterday.

BTW I have several supp-pdf.tex; they are bit by bit different
one another.
The file taken from tug site today is signed as "version=2001.07.27"
in header, and it seems much newer than the one, "version=2000.10.14",
taken from a CTAN today. These are free from the %%EOF error.

The file I use today to reproduce the error is also signed as
"version=2000.10.14", but the body is slightly different from CTAN's.
I think your supp-pdf.tex signed as "2000.04.28" contains the same bug.

My using one "version=2001.07.27" seems more newer than tug's;
possibly mine is a beta-release...?

...I'm confused very much.
How loose the version administration is!

Best regards,

----
