Dear Musix-ers,
Thanks for everybody who helped me so kindly to install und beginn with

The Website could be greatly improved for stupid guys like me if it were
only specified, that people coming from Windows without knowledge of
programming, have to read first the pmx manual (the one in German
http://icking-music-archive.org/software/pmx/notdr.pdf, improved, has almost
everything needed to understand how it works), specially the sections 1.1,
1.4.5 and 1.5.
we might want to ask Don, the software editor of the Icking Archive to underline in the software web section the importance of studying the manuals - that applies to all typesetting beginners regardless of their favourite operating systems:-)
Furthermore, I will in the next time abandon (try to give up ;-) with Word and Co (I dont want to waste my time anymore!) and reinstall Linux on my private computer.
Question 1: when scrolling in the german pmx manual, I got the warning (translated from german with my own words):
<The embedded font "PRWVYI+TeXXSLZ20-Regular~57a" could not be found. Some parts will eventually not be correct displayed or printed.>
The display seems to be correct, but it doesnt want to print. This comes when scrolling page 77 +/- (Acrobat page)
What is wrong? What do have I to modify?
I just tried this, both displaying and printing, and everything is OK. This must be something with your acroreader (although the error message sounds like something wrong with your fonts installation -- ?? * what is your teX installation ? MikTeX ? which version ? * What version of acroreader do you use?
I have to say that I _am_ able to reproduce that problem when I open the German manual with my linux port of Acrobat Reader 5. The cause of the problem is with no doubt that the pdf file was generated with older, buggy versions of the MusiXTeX type 1 fonts. A workaround for now- until the manual gets updated - is to downgrade to Acrobat Reader 4 which _will_ handle this pdf file - as well as several other files in the archive suffering from the same problem.
I take this opportunity to repeat my encouragement to all musixtex/pmx/m-tx contributors to check that their scores are made with the most recent font releases and to upload updates if necessary!!!
Question 2: Does MusixTeX support advanced Notation? (for example circular music and other graphical music like http://www.graphire.com/Pages/MP/Examples/MPslip.htm) ?
very simple answer: NO !! (that's really asking a bit much ...)
If yes, where are the commands for it (Manual)?
Thank in advance from
Francois
