Triggered by a recent thread on this list I looked into musicXML as defined on http://www.musicxml.org/ and found it worth to give it a try. Hopefully in not too far future I'll come out with an experimental version of pmx2xml / mtx2xml (opposite direction is much more work to implement since musicXML has a more open structure than PMX/MTX, permitting different approaches).
Now my question: is anybody aware of a good and readable musicXML documentation? On musicxml.org I found a fairly good tutorial which helps getting started, but when it comes to implementing details, it is not systematic enough. On the other hand, digging the stuff out of the DTD definition files is, though possible, a quite awful chunk of work. Something inbetween would be great.
My guess? Its politics.
Two recent initiatives, Oasis. Folded a couple of days ago. MPEG group. Trying to do something similar. Meeting scheduled for Munich next month.
Its a case of 'not invented here' or I'll follow, but not help develop or something.
