I'd like to prepare some short excerpts of melodies for a kind of
"harmony handbook" (don't take it as a real based on Italian pop songs.
What do you think is the best way to build examples with a small page size (I'd have six bars at most), and with plain chords added below
for the midi version? Is it better to prepare two different source files?
You might consider typesetting a two-staff score having the tune in the upper staff and chord accompaniment in the lower staff. For the MIDI file pmxab-process the full score, use scor2prt to extract a new pmx source file containing the upper staff only and finally process that new source file throughout into .ps, .pdf or whatever you need.
