And that indeed does the trick.
I still get the error, but the final result is perfectly OK.
Great, thanks. I'll work on putting in my own composition then.
I am glad to learn that you finally solved most (hopefully: all)
of your initial problems. Let me, nevertheless, add a few comments
after the fact (I am sorry I didn't pitch into this thread
earlier); they may be useful to other newbies:
(1) part if not all of your installation problems seem to have
their source in that you apparently did not follow Eva
Jaksch's advice meticulously, in particular: DO NOT let
MikTeX install your musixTeX-related software
automatically! Cf.
http://icking-music-archive.org/software/musixtex/musixwin.pdf
(2) most (if not all) of the GUI interfaces that include
TeX/LaTeX features (such as Winedt) do not work well with
MusixTeX, in particular because of MusixTeX's 3-pass
system (which Don Simons pointed out to you). In my
experience, it is easier to write your own script/batch
file for that. An example which includes the preprocessor
PMX is
runpmx.bat
which you will find in my PMX tutorial
http://icking-music-archive.org/software/pmx/pmxccn.pdf
(3) It's quite courageous of you to start learning musixTeX
with coding in straight musixTeX. You should by all means
get familiar with PMX: it simplifies the use of musixTeX
enormously (and that's an understatement).
