Well, technically, the final -X in TeX is supposed to be pronounced like the ch in "Bach", "loch" or "l'chaim", not like a k. So if the X in MusiX gets the same treatment, then it sounds like "musich", not "music", and the distinction is still there - if somewhat subtle to an English speaker's ear. -- Mark J.
