Someone with more patience than I have may be able to work out exactly how the octave register is getting screwed up. But I'll just suggest that for simply stopping and restarting an existing beam, you could use a completely different and much simpler method. It's based on the fact that \ibbu and \tbu are non-spacing commands. For example, in the bass clef bar 2,
c43x5 \tbu1\ c \ibbu130\ c c c works just fine.
