Since \ibu... initiates a _single_ beam, it's a little unclear exactly what
your complaint is, but I think I can guess. \ibbu... generates double beams,
and the second parameter sets the starting height of the beam. It is true
that for a horizontal upper double beam, if you use the note name as the
second parameter of the beam initiation macro, the top will come out higher
than a corresponding single beam. If you want it lower, just use a 2nd
parameter that's one note lower. Here's where I'm confused, because you seem
to have tried that and seem to be claiming it had no effect. I don't
understand that at all. Perhaps you should post a compilable tex excerpt
that you have confirmed demonstrates your problem.

In PMX, there are two kinds of easy adjustments on the height of a beam. The
most common simply raises or lowers the height by one \internote (half the
space between staff lines). Unfortunately, either in PMX or raw musixtex,
that in itself can't make tops of horizontal double beams line up exactly
with tops of single beams, since the beams are not spaced an integral number
of \internotes apart. But lowering the double beam by one internote makes it
come out pretty close. And if you want it to come out _exactly_ lined up,
there's a second way of changing beam heights in PMX that can do that. It's
a little more complicated.

Unfortunately, using PMX would be somewhat problematic for you because it
doesn't easily handle single-line percussion parts. It could be made to do
it with in-line TeX.

If your problem is that you can get the heights to line up approximately but
you want them to be exact, then please say so, and I'll explain how you can
do that either in MusiXTeX or PMX.
