According to 'Polyglottes Wörterbuch der musikalische Terminologie' 
(Bärenreiter, Kassel 1980) 'roll' _is_ the english term to use. German 
'Wirbel', French 'roulement', Italian 'rullo', Danish 'hvirvel'
