Different mail systems work differently, but there are several possible
problems when cutting and pasting PMX (or TeX) code from email messages. The
most common is lines being folded. You need to visually scan what you pasted
and unfold where necessary. It's also possible though not likely that there
are extra characters at the beginning of each line, but this would generally
only occur if you have cut something from what is already a reply.

There was a flaw in Andre's solution. When I pointed it out, he privately
replied

" i was stupid to use \ha it must be respectively \hl \hu \hl \hu"

I haven't experimented with this substitution.
