Dieter-- All you need to do is enter \\sepbarrules\ near the top of the PMX file.
But...if you're doing vocal music, you should probably be using M-Tx as a preprocessor for PMX. And I'm guessing you're not doing that, because M-Tx sets \sepbarrules as a default.
