Man, welcome to pandora's box!

After reading all of Bob's posts I have succeeded in producing acceptable
pdf files in both letter and a4 format, using ps2pdf from MiKTeX 2.9 (not
Ghostview convert) with no command line options. But to switch from one size
to the other I changed the default paper setting in MiKTeX settings.

Bob, do I read you correctly than one cannot simply use command line options
on ps2pdf to produce both sizes of outputs?

I'll also add than in the process, I've found that the .ps produced by dvips
in MiKTeX 2.9 is very different internally from 2.6.
