I have submitted a PMX version of the first challenge "Estrella". You can find it here https://github.com/engraving-challenges/estrella I only have gotten limited feedback, but have still found it VERY useful to look at the other submissions and discussion.
I would really like to proceed with the second one, represented in this image: https://github.com/engraving-challenges/winterwind/blob/master/chopin-godows ky.png but I'm stymied by the 12-note groups with discontinuous beams. Earlier, I posted a one-off trial using PMX, but PMX kluges using overlaid ordinary beam groups will definitely not suffice since (1) they are very laborious, (2) there isn't fine enough control on vertical positions of the beams, and (3) they use up both voices in a staff. I think the only feasible path will involve work at the MusiXTeX level, defining some new macros. They would have to reach down into the deepest depths of the TeX programming, way further than I have the knowledge or patience to untangle. It would involve understanding how MusiXTeX computes and controls the starting positions and slopes of each individual horizontal segment of the beam. I'd like to appeal to the TeXperts to give this some thought. I'll mention that it appears that 5 other codes are represented: Finale, Lilypond, MuseScore, Mozart, and Sibelius. It looks like Lilypond is the only one so far that could do the 12-note groups as in the original. --Don Simons ------------------------------- [email protected] mailing list If you want to unsubscribe or look at the archives, go to http://tug.org/mailman/listinfo/tex-music
