unless you use the -i option. And there are many other options
available:

Usage: [texlua] musixtex.lua { option | basename[.tex] | basename[.aspc] } ...
options: -v version
         -h help
         -l latex (or pdflatex)
         -p pdfetex (or pdflatex)
         -d dvipdfm
         -s stop at dvi
         -g stop at ps
         -i retain intermediate files
         -1 one-pass [pdf][la]tex processing
-F fmt use fmt as the TeX processor
         -x run makeindex
         -a preprocess using autosp
         -f restore default processing
