It seems to have been simply replacing index("st()",charq)
by index("st(){}",charq). This is clearly superficial.
There are lots of charq.eq.'t' tests which one should presumably
replace by index("t{}",charq).gt.0 However. even if I do that, the
error persists.
I'll look next for tests on '({'. But not tonight.
