The last time I loaned my vert gear, I was at the cave with the person, and double checked their setup. I made sure they knew the descender, and checked to make sure they loaded it properly before descending. I would have to be very comfortable with the person's experience on rope before loaning my gear to someone when I wouldn't be present..
