I have sent this out already but I got a few bounces because new year brings new emails for many of us. I looks like most got through but I will need help on emails you might know for Myrna Attaway (jerry? Your area?) and Bill Greenwald (Kriste your area?)**** I know there are quite a few great artists up in the mountains who might think I am ignoring them but I don’t know many emails and who would love and invite from FAS. Don’t forget the new Craft and Design Salon either that Kriste is starting this year!**** Linda if you know any members in your area that might like to try out the FAS or the new CAD, please pass on the info below. **** ** ** 1st Call for submission. **** Welcome, you are invited to enter the NSS Fine Arts Salon 2012. Salon has 6 categories for the themed judged Salon: Paint, Sketch, Mixed media, Multimedia, Textile, 3D, for ribbons and Best of Show. NEW Salon competition is CARTOON, and has a new prize for the funniest cartoon for the SpeleoArt Cartoon Trophy. NEW is the opportunity to enter non themed speleoart works. This will be known as OPEN ENTRY. This will be open to Ballot Box judging for the SpeleoArt Award.**** The cost is $15 to enter 4 artworks. ($10 for Salon volunteers) Please follow these guidelines for submission: PLEASE EMAIL TO ME-**** **1. **How many pieces you might have to enter (#1-4) if you have titles send them.**** **2. **Categorize each artwork if theme entry, or call each artwork ‘OPEN ENTRY’ for other cave subject.**** **3. **Statement about how your art is made. **** **4. **Statement about who you are.**** **5. **Please think of titles and prices email them so I can distribute that info to everyone who need it.**** ** ** There is a form online, or you can request a form to be sent to you, that should be mailed to me with your check written out to NSS/FAS or handed in with your payment when you arrive at Convention. **** ** ** With this email below are the rules and criteria for entry. Please feel free to ask questions or for advice. I do try to be as inclusive as possible.**** ** ** *Fine Arts Salon Judging Criteria***** *Exhibition of drawings, paintings and sculpture*.**** *Greenbrier Valley, West Virginia 2012***** *TOPOGRAPHY/CARTOGRAPHY***** ** ** 1. ONE application form:**** For adults and children**** 2. All entries must be submitted preferably with digital images emailed to me. Do not send original artwork with entry form, please!**** *Artwork must be by living artists who are NSS members.***** 3. Mail or email applications and photographs of work only to Carolina Shrewsbury, 124 4th Ave NW, Largo FL 33770 or email speleoart(at) hawaiiflow.com. *Postmarked no later than June 1st, 2012.***** 4. Include an artist statement/bio. Descriptions about mediums used in artwork for labels.**** 5. Entry fees are per person: $15 for adults, $10 for Salon volunteers/Convention staff and $5 for youth (12 and under).**** 6. Make checks for entry fees payable to the NSS FAS.**** 7. The number of entries is limited to 4 per person for competition, an optional 4 can be entered for show only. **** 8. The size of entries will be limited to space available for each individual artist.**** *9. Entries submitted at the Convention will be accepted only on a space-available basis. Salon Competition entries will be given priority. Artwork must be FOR SALE or FOR AUCTION. Artwork not for sale will be considered for Craft and Design Salon.* Previous Salon Awarded work is exempt from this criteria- see item #12**** 10. There is provision for artwork to be displayed but not judged if the artist so wishes.**** 11. All exhibits are encouraged to be sold at Salon or entered for NSS Auction.**** 12. Previously awarded work is encouraged to be exhibited but will not be judged in the Salon.**** 13. Applications will be screened and artists will be notified by mail or E-mail.**** 14. Additional information, and Convention address to send artwork, will be supplied at time of notification. *Artwork must arrive in the Salon by Saturday before Convention opens.***** 15. Each digital image must be accompanied by:**** a. Name of artist, b. Dimensions of the piece, c. Category to be judged in (if judging is desired) d. Medium. e. Include the following statement with your signature: "I grant to the NSS the right to reproduce images of these entries in NSS exhibits, web sites, catalogues, publications, recordings, and audio/visual programs.” **** 16. The NSS will deduct a 20% commission from all art sold.**** 17. All artwork must be appropriately framed or professionally presented. ** ** *Print labels on card for each artwork with Artist Name, Artwork Title, PRICE/AUCTION and attached to rear of artwork with string so that it can hang over the front when hung.***** 18. Art will be judged in 6 categories: Paint/Pastel, Digital Multimedia, Sketch, 3D, Textile and Mixed Media. The *new* OPEN ENTRY (any subject as long as its caves) will be by Caver Ballot.**** 19. Winners will be selected in each category and a Best in Show overall. ** ** 20. Judging will occur at the Convention.**** 21. Judging for the SpeleoArt Award and SpeleoArt Cartoon Trophy will be by caver ballot.**** 23. Judges choice will be final.**** 24. Ribbons are Merit Award and Honorable Mention in each category.
