Durango, Co was (and may still be) one of the alternate year Field Camp
classes in undergrad Geology class at the Univ. of Houston. The other was Big
Bend!

Those ratings tend to be the "kiss of death". Austin was touted as a wonderful place to move to by the national press for bidness-man type reasons as far back as the 1970s.

I would agree. I would not want to live IN Wimberley because of the total
tourist atmosphere. Too many people and cars, especially on weekends. However,
there is a small town paradise fifteen miles due north known as Dripping
Springs. It has almost everything anyone would need, including a DQ, oink! And,
if one must go up-scale, The Hill Country Galleria is only fifteen minutes
north. I like it so much that I recently bought some acreage five miles north,
just off of Fitzhugh Rd. It has a creek bottom that is 40 feet deep with great
hiking trails. Daughter Jenny thinks it is a perfect place for TCR but I don't
think I am that brave. When I get the property and its improvements whipped
into shape I will plan a caver Bar-B-Q and picnic. It has a fantastic BBQ pit
with whole cow capacity. I hope to move from H town (hell) permanently later
this summer. An invitation will be posted.

Fritz

I hope that everyone doesn't move there. Founders Day this past weekend was
pretty crowded.

Yeah Dripping Springs is awesome.

Everyone should move there.

Stay out of Wimberley.

It sucks.

Girl swallowed by sinkhole

XI'AN, China -- Dramatic video has been released out of China of a teenage
girl in trouble while walking along the street.
The video shows a girl on her cell phone when a sinkhole appears out of
nowhere and swallows her up.
A cab driver who saw the whole thing rushed to the hole to find the girl 18
feet underground in a deep well. The cabbie jumped into the pit to save
her. Both of them were pulled to the surface by firefighters.
The girl's family eventually used the video to track down the cab driver
and thank him for stopping to help.
