Subject: A VERY special animal-rescue story
Alien Meets Free Willy on King Kong's Island: A Love Story. Well, that's
just what I would call a movie about this fabulous tale of science and
conservation at their best. It's got it all. An unbelievable beastie that will
-- against your every instinct -- make you fall in love; a detective story
about reopening a cold-case of species disaster; scientists who are truly
heroes, physically and morally; cliff-hanger drama (literally and
figuratively); a loving struggle for an unlikely life that will make your eyes
mist up; then, welling from somewhere in your heart, the triumphant cheer a
director would choose for the moment when the sickly nobody wins Olympic gold;
spiced with a video of emergence into life that will leave no questions about
how fragile and precious is every creature great and small (or both); and even
a soupcon of lost-land mystique. Enjoy and remember. This is the Earth whose
stewardship has, for good or ill, been vouchsafed to our species. The
Australian scientists have done their duty. Let us do ours.
