Subject: Editorial on cave closures in Montana

There was a nice editorial on cave closures in the Forest Service Northern
Region 1 in the April 22 Missoulian. Comments on the proposed cave closure
can be made to threatened and endangered species program leader Kristi
Swisher at (406) 329-3558 or by email to [email protected]. In my early
conversations with Kristi she has advocated complete closure of all FS
caves, i.e. - the Colorado model. She has been opposed to recreational
caving even in caves that don't have bats. But in recent conversations she
has come to realize that cavers could be a great help in documenting bat
usage in caves.

Please forward this email to any cavers that may want to comment on the
closures.
