DON, TELL ME YOU DON'T MEAN IT! How could you miss the opportunity for social
interaction with your peers, plus a good meal, whatever it is?

Whoops! My apologies to Alan.
I didn't mean to criticize the TCR location itself or Alan's hard work in
arranging it. I'm planning to attend and am confident it will be a great
weekend. There are ample places to get wet within the 3100 acre site, varied
topography for lots of activities and lots of shady, inviting campsites.
My negative observation was directed at the website of Hidden Fall Adventure
Park. Their normal audience is obviously the serious off-road vehicle set and
this is what their "guide to the park" video and photo album focus on. If you
search past all that, however, you'll see there's a lot of the karstlands hill
country scenery and small water features so many of us enjoy.
See you in October-and thanks Alan and others who are putting this on,
Frank

Seriously, I can't believe the number of complaints. We should be grateful
that Allan still wants to tackle a project like this and we should be
grateful that we have a location for TCR 2010.

Maybe next year Allan should just sit back and let someone else do the work
and see if we will even have a TCR.

In general, we need to be a little more considerate of each other on this
listserv.

I wholeheartedly agree, Amanda.

Anyone here willing to wear the mantle of "TCR Head Honcho"?

Now's the time to offer up your services for next year and give Allan a
hearty pat on the back for a job well done and give him a well earned
break.

Allan has been soliciting volunteers since the Honey Creek TCR. (Great
bonfire and ramen noodle wrestling, BTW!)

Any takers?

Mark

Off-road vehicles or not, I'm excited to spend my birthday @ my first ever TCR!
I had a boyfriend in the hospital last year that weekend and had to miss it.
think it's going to be a blast no matter where it's held. It gives everyone (us
Houston cats especially!) a chance to catch up with caving buddies we don't
often get to see! I can't wait, and I'm so thankful for everyone who works had
to put this party on. The only thing that would make it more perfect is a
birthday cake cooked by the caving cooks! (wink wink, nudge nudge @ stefan &
crew) See y'all there!

I just find this exceedingly rude and disrespectful to a person who works very

immediately bitching because I don't ride a dirt bike or enjoy off-road
activities. Besides, I attend TCR for the camaraderie of seeing friends and
acquaintances I don't get to see as often as I would like. Enjoy your birthday.

Non-cavers who aren't serious motorized off-road vehicle aficionados will

likely be scared off by the site's scrublands landscape and their

ORV-focused "tour of the park" video and photo album.

I'm a caver who REALLY doesn't care about motorized off-road vehicles and who
seriously doesn't want to spend a weekend listening to them roar through the
park.

At least Inks Lake and Longhorn Caverns are within a few miles of this
miserable TCR site.

Julia, who will likely skip this TCR and spend my birthday somewhere fun

Jeeze, big difference between this arid off-road-vehicle park and the lush,

verdant river banks and cool, clear waters of Paradise Canyon!

I was hoping to convince my girlfriend to fly back with me for this year's

TCR but I don't dare send her the link to the Hidden Falls website.

The only downer for me is that October 17 is the love of my life's birthday and
our 30th wedding anniversary and she doesn't participate in caving related
activities. :(

Well, my birthday is the week before TCR. Perhaps we should proclaim TCR to
also be a birthday party for all Libras! That should balance things right up.
