As an aside, we asked the fee amounts and were told a reasonable fee (about $2/person admission plus a rappel fee). We were told ropes could not go in before 11 and had to be out by 3 so as not to disturb the birds. However, when we went back at the pre-arranged time the next day, that is when another individual higher up the food chain gave us the very high fee amounts. They did ask us if we had "big or small" cameras and we told them big. Since reading other people's experiences, we have contacted locals in the tourism business asking about this high rate. One individual told us the price was "random and unpredictable". Another was outraged. So based on all of this, we are going back tomorrow with a local to try again. (I am writing this from Xilitla).
